Seyka’s Favorite Vegan Protein Powders

Seyka’s Favorite Vegan Protein Powders

I am writing this blog super quickly while looking out of my window over the river in Seville, Spain, because my dear friends keep asking me what vegan protein powders I like. It’s about time that I put my thoughts into one place so I can share them with everyone easily.

First of all, why am I in Spain? Check out our 21 Country Vegan Voyage here!

Now, I haven’t tried all of the awesome vegan protein powders out there, but I have tried quite a few and you’ll find my favorites listed below.

The Seyka Vegan Protein Powder Test

Before I show you my favorites, here’s a basic outline of what I look for from my vegan protein powder. It has to pass the Seyka Protein Powder Test.

  1. Protein, not a “meal replacement.”
    • I’m not looking for a complete meal here. I’m often mixing my protein in with other things, using it more as a supplement to my day rather than a meal. And I love to make creative smoothies on my own so I am really on using this for the protein and don’t need the extra stuff. I tend to not enjoy meal replacements as much because of the taste, too.
  2. Easily digestible.
    • Some vegan protein powders can be rough on the stomach. Pea protein is very easy on the gut, which makes it a favorite of mine. Rice protein is great, too!
  3. High protein.
    • High protein, low carb, low fat. After all, it is a protein powder.
  4. Not soy-based.
    • I LOVE soy, I really do, but I eat this magical food whenever I can during the rest of my day. For the sake of having everything in moderation, I prefer that my supplements not be soy-based.
  5. FLAVOR.
    • Yum factor is key. I want to look forward to having my protein powder.
  6. Texture.
    • A grimy texture can kill the vibe for me.

Does your favorite vegan protein powder pass the test?

Seyka’s Favorite Vegan Protein Powders

In no specific order, here are my favorite vegan protein powders.  I have a few flavor options for you. I use each of them in different ways.

Vegan Protein: Chocolate

Sun Warrior Classic Protein Chocolate

Sun Warrior Classic Protein Chocolate

Sun Warrior Classic Protein is a light chocolatey-flavored vegan protein powder that you can add to many things!

Organic brown rice protein. 18 grams of protein. Only six ingredients. No soy. No added sugar.

  • I blend it with frozen bananas and a touch of almond milk and some peanut butter drizzled on top for a delicious dessert.
  • Or I shake it up with my favorite alternative milk (like an oat milk) to make chocolate milk!

Note: I have not tried the Classic Plus Protein but it is next on my list. I bet it is great.

LISTEN UP!! I made a huge mistake before and ordered the (I am not recommending this one!) Protein Warrior Blend and I tried to return it because it tasted like butt :/ but they wouldn’t let me. I am not recommending the blend! The blend is complete protein that has carbs and fat in it as well so it’s more like a meal replacement.

Vegan Protein: Vanilla

Vega Sport Performance Protein Vanilla

Vega Sport Protein Vanilla

Vega’s Sport Protein Vanilla is my favorite of this brand so far! They also have all-in-one shakes and a regular protein.

Pea protein, pumpkin seed protein, organic sunflower seed protein, alfalfa protein. 30 grams of protein. No soy. No added sugar.

  • I use this in a berry smoothie to make a delicious vanilla berry milkshake.
  • Shake it up in a shaker bottle with water or vegan milk (like Califia almond milk)!

Vegan Protein: Peanut Butter

Organic PBfit

Organic PBfit isn’t exactly a protein powder, but it is a powder with protein! It’s great for adding fun flavor to food, and awesome for hikes or backpacking. You can bring peanut butter without bringing actual peanut butter that is too heavy.

Organic peanuts, organic coconut palm sugar, and salt. 8 grams of protein. No soy.

Vegan Protein: Unflavored

Trader Joe’s Pea Protein Powder

Trader Joe’s has an Organic Unsweetened Unflavored Pea Protein that is much less expensive than the name brands. I love this protein for mixing into things that I want to add protein to, but not necessarily flavor.

Garden of Life Raw Organic Protein Powder

Garden of Life Raw Organic Protein

If you don’t have a Trader Joe’s nearby or you just love ordering from Amazon, this is another high-protein, vegan, organic, neutral flavored protein for you.

Organic pea protein, organic sprouted brown rice protein. 22 grams of protein. No soy. No added sugar

Thanks for reading along! Any proteins you love that I forgot?
