Green Ginger Smoothie

This Green Ginger Smoothie is a delicious way to start your day. It is filled with antioxidants, healthy vegetables, and ginger to aid your digestion and gut health.

Ginger

The ginger is a little spicy and takes some getting used to. If you’re not used to flavors that make you say “wow this must be healthy” then prepare your first few rounds of this smoothie with extra banana and berries to cut the edge a little bit. You can also consider substituting orange juice (like this 365 brand which is organic, no sugar added, not from concentrate) to make the smoothie more sweet and less spicy.

Here is a blog by Healthline about the health benefits of ginger.

I recommend buying fresh, organic ginger. I wash it really well and then pop it in the blender with the skin on to make life easier. You can also add some organic ground ginger, but some of the benefits of the whole food are lost when we take out the water and grind down the food 🙂

If you’re looking for an easier smoothie to start you on your green smoothie adventure try my Green Peanut Power Smoothie.

Protein

A blog about my favorite vegan proteins has been on my list forever. I’ll get to it one day, my friends. For now, you can use your favorite unflavored (not vanilla or chocolate), unsweetened, organic, vegan protein. This one, by Garden of Life, is a great option. It adds great nutrition while not impacting flavor too much.

Super foods

Chia seeds add great health benefits.

Acai powder adds both some flavor pizzazz and antioxidants to your morning. I hadn’t tried it until my best friend / cousin brought it back from Hawaii for me
