Vegan Voyage Singapore

Vegan Voyage Singapore Marina Bay Sands

We, Seyka and Brian, are on a 21 country vegan voyage over 5 months to enjoy vegan food from all parts of our planet, connect the vegan community, spread the vegan mission, report plant based news, create ethical consumer guides, and have a blast while doing it. We’re right in the middle of the Asian leg of our tour and loving every minute of it. After our stop in beautiful Cambodia, we now head to the next part of our exploration of this incredible continent. Welcome to Vegan Voyage Singapore, and thank you for joining us!

Vegan Voyage Singapore: An Overview

Singapore is both a city and a country – talk about a double threat! It is exceptionally clean and wealthy. It’s also very carefully monitored. Everything you do will probably be caught on camera! For a peaceful vacation, be careful to follow the rules of the place. For example, spitting gum on the sidewalk is a fineable offense. Drug trafficking is punishable by death!

If you’re not planning to commit any crimes during your stay, then be reassured that Singapore is well worth the trip. It is beautiful and culturally rich. It is worth noting that it is an expensive place to visit, but it is well worth the money if you can afford it.

I can’t mention Singapore without mentioning the amazing Singapore-founded platform abillionveg. It is a vegan food review site and helps you request vegan options from restaurant. It was a great tool to have while exploring the streets of Singapore! If you want to learn more about it, make sure to check out my review of the app.

Vegan Voyage Singapore: Accommodation Guide

Being such a high end city makes it easy to find great lodging in Singapore. We stayed at a budget friendly hotel that met our needs called Hotel Mi. It’s located right at the heart of Singapore’s cultural district, so you’ll be all set for all the adventures you want to go on. You can also stay in and enjoy the small gym or relax by the poolside!

Vegan Voyage Singapore: The Food

And now for our usual vegan food guide! Singapore was full of wonderful discoveries for us. We hope you enjoy them too!

Vegan Genesis

Vegan Genesis is a lovely restaurant. It’s health oriented and full of fresh vegan goodness. With both local and international influences, you’re sure to find at least one thing you’ll like!  The ambiance is welcoming with kind and welcoming employees. What more do you need to make this your next lunch stop?

Eight Treasures & Well Dressed Salad Bar

There’s no distinguishing necessary between Eight Treasures and Well Dressed Salad Bar. They are under the same ownership and located at the same place. Eight Treasures is upstairs, while Well Dressed Salad Bar is downstairs. They’re both vegetarian with many vegan options. Fun fact for both of these restaurants: they don’t offer cow milk (although you can ask for it, as they keep some in the back). Despite these similarities, they have very different ambiances and food!

Well Dressed Salad Bar has a fun, hip flare with unique and on-trend options. You can get fun meal options like grain bowls, salads and avocado toast. On the other hand, Eight Treasures is a traditional Chinese restaurant for sit-down meals in an elegant setting. This is the place to go if you’re looking for a more typical experience. Both are worth checking out, so make sure your lodging is close enough for you to go at least twice!

Afterglow

Afterglow has some fun vegan items on their menu. They weren’t fully vegan yet when we first visited them, but they have recently made the switch to a fully plantbased menu. And does it look delicious! Their teriyaki “meat” balls and raw lasagnes both sound so intriguing we’re tempted to take the plane back to Singapore right now. Make sure to tell us if you try out their new menu!

Su Food

Su Food has a very fun vibe and a unique ordering design that we both really loved. We were still able to get their 8-course meal with all vegan options! They were great, although a bit limited for a vegetarian and health restaurant. They also let us know the exciting news that they are integrating more vegan dishes coming out soon! Right now, their star ingredient is the French Black Truffle. If you feel like bringing a bit of France into your Singapore trip, you know where to go!

Vegan Voyage Singapore: Our To-Do List

Of course, we didn’t spend our time in Singapore simply eating delicious food and enjoying the scenery (although we easily could have)! We also came across some wonderful organisations that are all about goodness. The city is also full of cultural hot spots that deserve your attention. Follow us for our favorite picks in the city!

Animal Allies and Centre for a Responsible Future

One thing we have to mention as supporters of goodness is the incredible Animal Allies and Centre for a Responsible Future. They are a vegan and animal activist organization established in Singapore in 1999. We were lucky enough to interview them and learn more about their story and goals. Watch this video to find out more about them, and make sure to also visit their website!

Marina Bay Sands

Marina Bay Sands is one of the top hotels in the world, and certainly the most iconic one in Singapore. Actually staying there can get pretty expensive, but don’t panic if you can’t afford their suites! If you aren’t swanky enough to stay as a guest there, you can still use some of the hotel’s facilities nearly for free. For a drink minimum, you can enjoy the high up rooftop and its beautiful views after a certain time. Call in advance to see what time the cover is over for the night you’re interested in. It would be a shame to miss out on such an amazing place!

Merlion

Merlion is a lion-headed-mermaid-bottomed Singapore Mascot. You can find a large sculpture of it as a fountain. It’s a fun spot to see… Especially if your brother’s name is Merlin (like mine is)!

Sentosa Island

Sentosa is a super fancy resort island with tons of entertainment, family-friendly fun, beautiful beaches, glorious hotels and more. You can pay an entrance fee to go explore for the day, or you can go stay on the island overnight. (Scroll down to get our discount on the hotel that we stayed at!)

One15 Marina

While in Sentosa, we had the absolute pleasure of staying with One15 Marina. The hotel rooms are gorgeous, high-end places to rejuvenate and look out onto the water. They have a spa, a restaurant, room service, an infinity pool, a full gym, a steam room, a sauna, and of course BOATS as they are a yacht club.

You can use the code “DIRECT10” to save 10% when you book with One15 Marina.

Bus to Kuala Lumpur

You can take a bus to Kuala Lumpur. We took one bus line to KL. It took 6 stops that seemed to last forever, and we were fairly annoyed by the time we got there. On the way back, we took Aeroline bus. It cost a little more but saved us a lot of time and bad mood swings! We ordered a vegetarian meal and called ahead to ensure it would be vegan. Ours was, but double check before you dive in.

What’s next?

Singapore was a beautiful, although expensive stop in our Vegan Voyage journey through the world. We can’t thank you enough for tagging along with us! Our next stop will be in the beautiful land of Malaysia, and we hope you’ll tag along with us too. If you want to come along with us, make sure to follow us on InstagramFacebook and Youtube!
