Vegan Voyage Czech Republic

Vegan Voyage Czech Republic

We, Seyka and Brian are on a 21 country vegan voyage over the world to enjoy vegan food from all parts of our planet, connect to the vegan community, spread the vegan mission, report plant based news, create ethical consumer guides and have a blast while doing it. We’re now back from Austria, and are unbelievably excited to reveal everything there is to know about our fifteenth stop around the world. Welcome to Vegan Voyage Czech Republic, and thank you for joining us!

Vegan Voyage Czech Republic: An Overview

Czech Republic is lovely. Prague is definitely a hidden gem in the heart of Europe. It’s inexpensive, high energy, full of interesting culture and friendly people. And of course, there’s delicious vegan food! We had an amazing time getting to know the place.

Our advice

We mainly walked around to enjoy the beautiful streets and shops, but there also are many other means of transport at your disposal. For moving around the city center, you can count on electric scooters, rentable bikes and the usual public transport. Getting outside the city is pretty easy as well, with many trains running regularly to a wide range of European destinations. If you’re more into road trips, car rentals are also available.

We were there during the hot months and mostly came across people wearing tank tops, crop tops and shorts – so don’t worry if you’re packing light and casual. You’ll actually blend right in! Accommodation is also pretty easy to find as there are many lovely BnBs and hotels all over the city. Just make sure to check for air conditioning if you’re going during the warmer months!

Vegan Voyage Czech Republic: The Food

Bistro Paralela

There’s no vegan travel without a great selection of food, and our Vegan Voyage Czech Republic didn’t leave anything to be desired! Our first pick has to go to the charming Bistro Paralela. After entering through a basement bar and making your way to the courtyard at the back, you can find this adorable place by taking stairs. If you’re not sure where to go, just follow the joyful sounds of people laughing, drinking and playing! While we were there, we enjoyed a gorgeous peach salad, a falafel plate, and a mushroom “pulled pork” wrap. Even my famously mushroom-hating husband fell in love with it! He also tried some beer from the brewery and said it was delicious.

Veganland

After taking stairs to Bistro Paralela, you’ll need to climb up some more to find our next destination. But this time, the bar ambiance is out, while shopping malls are definitely in! Taking the escalator will take you to a place that dangerously looks like heaven itself. The only deity blessing Veganland is the one of vegan food, but it did the job pretty well. They have a full international vegan buffet, as well as à la carte menu items and health drinks. We were also lucky enough to interview the two brothers who created and run Veganland. You can check out our conversation in the video below!

Chutnej

International vegan food is one thing – international vegan fast food is another. To get your fix of burgers, pizzas and fries, look no further than Chutnej. You can let yourself be charmed by their lovely artistic restaurant, or get food delivered right in the comfort and safety of your home. We loved being able to enjoy a burger and a pizza in the same place, especially since they were both delicious! If you still have room for something sweet afterwards, you can go next door to the Blue Vegan Pig Shop for a delicious dessert. With everything from spirulina-infused glazed blue donuts to tofu cakes, your biggest problem will be not to buy the entire shop!

Blue Vegan Pig Shop

Speaking of the shop, it is probably one of the most instagrammable spots we came across through our Vegan Voyage Czech Republic. And guess what: that’s still one of the least remarkable things about this wonderful little spot! Blue Vegan Pig is full of activism pamphlets to educate those looking to learn more about veganism and constantly supports the Czech vegan community. It was even founded by the first ever vegan Czech youtuber! Way to make a usually unhealthy treat a blessing for our bodies and our minds. I loved the place even if I’m not usually the biggest donut fan, and I have a feeling you will too!

My Raw

Now that we had our sweet fix, our bodies were craving something a little bit healthier. For this, there was no better place to go than My Raw. This awesome restaurant serves everything from full meals to small snacks and proves that raw cooking doesn’t have to mean boring! Let yourself be tempted by their unique offerings from mylk cocktails to cabbage nachos. And don’t forget to get a side of their daily raw bread!

Vegetka

Finally, we couldn’t possibly end this section of our Vegan Voyage Czech Republic without mentioning Vegetka, which is nothing less than the oldest vegan restaurant in Prague! It has been around for 30 years and keeps pleasing anyone looking for a great accessible experience with vegan food. Order from their delicious menu or pile as much food as you can from their charge by weight buffet. Vegetka is a great place to see what happens when vegans decide to take a stand and spread their peaceful message across the world.

Vegan Voyage Czech Republic: The Conclusion

A special shout-out

Although it isn’t exactly something to do and more of a program, we both think you should know about the very special Jako Doma before we conclude this Vegan Voyage Czech Republic. This vegan soup kitchen offers a place for homeless women to find a sense of community and belonging in. They continually research and aim to find solutions against gender-specific homeless, one of the most unfortunate and unknown consequences of domestic violence against women. Outside of food, they also organize events, financial and psychological support systems, and even a film club to relax in away from troubles. We love everything Jako Doma stands for and simply could not finish this post without mentioning them.

Prague: A City of Parks

We loved a lot of things about Prague, but nothing came quite close to the city’s parks. We played in them, did acroyoga, went for runs, ate picnics, and made some friends. You can even drink in them if that’s more your thing! Even outside of the parks, the city is gorgeous and a pleasure to walk in. Relax in the grass or on a hill with a picnic and a lovely view, or run through the streets while looking for the most beautiful building you can find – the choice is all yours!
