We, Seyka and Brian are on a 21 country vegan voyage over the world to enjoy vegan food from all parts of our planet, connect to the vegan community, spread the vegan mission, report plant based news, create ethical consumer guides and have a blast while doing it. After our fifteenth stop in the Czech Republic, we now cross over the English Channel to get to our next stop. Thank you for joining us, and welcome to Vegan Voyage London!
Vegan Voyage London: An Overview
London is an amazing, complex and high-energy place. There is something new to see and do around every corner. The vegan food scene is amazing in London. There is huge variety of fun foodie finds to get into, which delighted us!
How different is London from what I know?
You shouldn’t expect too much of a culture shock while moving through the streets of the English capital. There’s no need to worry about currency changes, as credit cards are accepted pretty much everywhere. You can even use touchless payment on public transportation! Just hop on a city bus or get down to a Tube station and let the system calculate your fare for the day – no need to worry about maths or buying tickets! Similarly, no dress code consideration are really necessary here. Come as you are, and the city will love you!
Vegan Voyage London: Accommodation Guide
London is full of lovely BnBs and hotels. As a country known for its rain and wind during most of its year, air conditioning is unsurprisingly pretty rare. Just make sure to look for them if you’re coming over during the warmer season!
Our choice: h Club
Our accommodation choice for our Vegan Voyage London landed on h Club and we recommend it highly. It’s a fun artistic space that hosts many creative events for their members. Facilities include a TV studio, a 36 seater screening room, boutique artistic bedrooms. My favorite part had to be the beautiful lounge. Just come in and relax with a drink while looking over the London Eye. It’s the perfect spot for artists coming over to enjoy the British air.
You don’t have to search outside of h Club for every meal, as they have plenty of vegan options to choose from! We love discovering the food scene of the city, but a break was definitely needed once in a while. Soaking in the hip atmosphere of the space while enjoying delicious food was a wonderful way to recharge our batteries.
Vegan Voyage London: The Food
The Green Vic
The food scene is really where London shines. We loved getting to try out new and unique places all over the city. As promoters of goodness in all its forms, it only seems right to start off by mentioning The Green Vic. This lovely place is known as the most ethical bar in the world – what an intro! With a 100% vegan menu, a sustainable energy system and collaborations with environmentally friendly companies and LGBTQ+ programs, every penny you’ll spend there will go towards bringing more goodness into the world. Not to mention that the food is incredible!
We are huge fans of The Green Vic and were lucky enough to try their food while it was a pop up. Nowadays, the owners of this wonderful place are looking for a permanent residency to make this incredible ethical adventure continue. If you’d like to help out and get to try their wonderful food and drinks on your own Vegan Voyage London, make sure to contact them!
Shakey Shakey
Have you ever thought you didn’t like a type of food until someone made it so well it proved you wrong? That was my experience with Shakey Shakey. This super fun Broadway Market find is a great vegan and gluten free fish and chips food truck. It carries the most loved items from their brick and mortar sister shop, and is managed by a super friendly owner. The food was so delicious it made me forget I’m usually not the biggest fish and chips fan. Trust me, that’s really saying something!
Oasi Burger
Not all vegan spots are obvious about it – that’s what we learned when we first walked into Oasi Burger. With its leather chairs and the very realistic looking deer head staring at us on the wall, we were surprised to learn that we had stepped into a vegan place. And yet, absolutely everything on the menu was vegan, including fries, burgers and other delicious goodness! As it was located in a party area of the town, many people stumbled upon this spot and got their drunk munchies fix without even realising it was vegan. Oasi Burger is currently taking a break, but we can’t wait to hear more from them soon!
What The Pitta
If you’re not feeling like fried food, don’t worry: London’s vegan scene also has its fair share of health-oriented spots. What the Pitta is one of our favorites, located right in Boxpark Shoreditch, an absolute must see when you are in London. It’s a super fun mall with indoor and outdoor spaces to hang out in. Come in and enjoy What The Pitta’s wraps, salads, ice cream and of course, their famous pitta sandwiches.
Wild Food Café
At this point, you may have enough of party spots. That’s alright: just make your way down to Neal’s Yard area and look for the wonderful Wild Food Café. This little wellness-focused spot has a special warm atmosphere that you will instantly connect with. In the same way, your tastebuds will without a doubt connect to their upscale organic plant based food! Whether you get a hearty dinner or just a smoothie, it is a great place to stop by, take a deep breath and enjoy the view.
Vantra
Another great space if you’re looking for a wellness-focused Vegan Voyage London is Vantra, where underground food and ideas have been developing ever since it was established. It was one of the very first vegan restaurants in the city. Decades later, it keeps looking for health-invested folks to come over and share their ideas in the space even decades after their launch. You can even host an event for free in their space – all you need is something to say and a love of good vegan food!
Their menu has an emphasis on raw and fermented food, and is gluten, refined sugar, oil and garlic free. Even if you get swept up by the beautiful space, don’t forget to get your cocktail or mocktail fix before leaving!
Crussh
Fitness compatible, delicious food that you can just grab and go? That may sound like a dream, but you can watch it turn into reality when you stop by Crussh. This chain is entirely dedicated to food that will power your workouts and align with your fitness goals. They cater to all kinds of special diets from keto to low fat or organic only choices and do it in the most delicious way. Whether you’d like a protein smoothie to fuel your long walks all over the city, a mezze salad or a delicious afternoon treat, this is the place to go to for plant protein in its most delicious form!
Stem + Glory
Finally, our last pick simply has to be all about goodness: and that is definitely something you can find at Stem + Glory. We loved their beautiful decoration and wall quotes, as well their fully vegan and beautifully designed international menu. There’s everything from kimchi pancakes to luxury lasagnes and gorgeous vegan cheesecakes! Definitely worth a look if you’re coming by the capital.
Vegan Voyage London: The Conclusion
London is definitely a town bursting with life and creative energy. It’s pretty much impossible to get bored here! You can walk for days without seeing even half of the city’s artistic offerings. If you’re more of a party type, you will fit right in with the locals if you go out to party around Shoreditch until your feet can’t carry you. We felt very welcome here and would love to come back for a Vegan Voyage London sequel!
