Ranch Dressing: vegan, creamy and healthier

Ranch is a well loved food. It can be used as a dressing for salads, a dip for pizza crust, or the centerpiece for a party platter of veggies and chips.

I know that people worry about sacrificing loved foods like ranch dressing when transitioning to a vegan diet. But fear not! There are ranch dressings that you can buy (ideas listed below), super easy ranch recipes, and more fancy recipes that can be used when you want the flavor to be JUST right.

Premade Ranch

Organic premade ranch for my Ketogenic-diet lovers:

OrganicVille ranch is vegan, organic and only 1 carb per serving.

Non-GMO premade ranch with Omega-3s:

Hilary’s Eat Well Dressing is made with chia seeds and non-GMO ingredients.

Non-GMO premade ranch that is allergen free:

JUST ranch (made by JUST Mayo company) is a delicious ranch that has no allergens.

Non-GMO premade ranch high in Omega fats:

Follow Your Heart ranch dressing is made with non-GMO ingredients. I’m not saying it is a health food, but I am saying it’s delicious and can help you transition away from animal products without sacrificing taste. In case you need a vat of it:

Non-GMO premade ranch (plus Caesar and Bleu Cheese):

Daiya does it again with a delicious ranch dressing. It is also canola oil based, so it isn’t a healthy option, but it is still healthier than dairy-ranch.

Homemade Ranch

Easy, quick ranch dressing by the Genius Kitchen.
My healthier, more intensive ranch dressing is described below.

Adjust seasoning to taste, but this recipe is sure to make you crave ranch even more than you did before – I’m sorry! Check out this blog on oils to see why I prefer avocado oil and this blog on pink Himalayan salt to see why I prefer that over table salt.

Soaked cashews
  1. Soak the raw, organic cashews for one day in a bowl with water before making the ranch. If you're like me and often forget to soak them that long before you're ready to use them you can boil some water and let them sit in the hot water for an hour before you use them. Drain before use.
Making the ranch
  1. Put all ingredients, except the parsley, in a high-powered blender or food processor. Blend until smooth and creamy. Stir in parsley.
Melding the flavors
  1. Pour into an airtight container, cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to let the sauce thicken and the flavors meld. If it is too thin add more cashews (or a 1/2 tsp of arrowroot powder), if it is too thick add a splash of non-dairy milk.
Recipe Notes

I actually make this without the oil and I recommend doing that if you're an experienced plant-based-foodie and have an appreciation for healthy foods. If you're looking for a flavor and texture of ranch that will satisfy your Hidden Valley cravings, however, add the oil.
