Liquid Aminos – Health food benefits

Bragg Liquid Aminos is a kitchen staple for me. Liquid aminos are a health food that can be used in recipes as a substitute for traditional ingredients that may compromise your health. I use it in place of soy sauce in many recipes, to add saltiness to other recipes, and I integrate it regularly because of the health benefits.

What is Liquid Aminos?

It is simply liquid amino acids derived from soybeans, plus water. No additives or sugars.

Amino acids are the building blocks of proteins. Our body can make 11 of the 20 that we need. So it is vital that we get the “essential” 9 amino acids from our food. Braggs Liquid Aminos contains 16 amino acids. Now, keep in mind, it doesn’t contain much protein as a source, as this Livestrong article describes. But even these small amounts are helpful to your body.

This is a gluten-free alternative to soy sauce. It has that powerful umami and salty flavor that can elevate a dish. It is also important to note that 97% of the soy used in the US comes from genetically modified plants – so most soy sauces will be GMO. Braggs Liquid Aminos are GMO free.

Another notable benefit is that you’ll be seeing Liquid Aminos pop up in many of our For Goodness Seyks recipes, so having them on hand will make life simpler. For example, they are used in this awesome Pineapple Coconut Curry dish.

  1. I really like many of the Bragg’s products – well, the vegan ones, in any case! This is the first one I discovered years ago. My body does not fare well with Soy sauce, so I always use this as a substitute. When I eat my brown rice avocado sushi rolls, I always use this with lots of wasabi and pickled ginger! Yum.

And as mentioned here, it is so much healthier in many ways!

Thanks for the great product advice – keep it coming! And the enticing recipes, too!

  2. I would love to become a Vegan, but for a starter it would really helpful to know where I have to go and where do I find it in the store. I haven’t seen a vegan isle so far, unfortunately. Also a list what is the vegan substitute for a non-vegan product.
I believe if we ‘future vegans” would have that. More people would start “today” not “next week’.

  3. An interesting discussion is worth comment. I think that you should write more on this topic, it might not be a taboo subject but generally people are not enough to speak on such topics. To the next. Cheers

  4. Hi! I could have sworn I’ve visited this site before but after looking at some of the posts
I realized it’s new to me. Anyhow, I’m definitely happy I discovered it and
I’ll be bookmarking it and checking back frequently!
